Chicken Big Mac Recipe

Creating a Chicken Big Mac at home is a fun and delicious project! Below is a recipe to make your own Chicken Big Mac. Keep in mind that this recipe is an imitation and not an exact replica of the original McDonald's version. Let's get started:

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Patties:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
For the Big Mac Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembling the Burger:

  • 4 sesame seed burger buns
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced pickles
  • Chopped onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F)
  2. Start by preparing the Chicken Patties:
  3. Place each chicken breast between plastic wrap or in a zip-lock bag.
  4. Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, gently pound the chicken breasts until they are evenly flat and about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.

Set up the breading station:

  1. Place the flour in a shallow dish.
  2. Beat the egg in a separate dish.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.

Dredge the chicken patties:

  1. Take one chicken breast and coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Dip the chicken into the beaten egg, ensuring it's completely coated.
  3. Finally, coat the chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing them onto the surface to adhere.
  4. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add some oil.
  5. Cook the chicken patties for about 3-4 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Transfer the cooked patties to a baking sheet and place a slice of American cheese on each patty.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.

While the chicken is in the oven, prepare the Big Mac Sauce:

  1. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assemble the Chicken Big Mac:

  1. Toast the sesame seed burger buns lightly if desired.
  2. Spread a generous amount of Big Mac Sauce on both the top and bottom buns.
  3. On the bottom bun, place a layer of shredded lettuce, followed by a chicken patty with melted cheese.
  4. Add sliced pickles and chopped onions on top of the patty.
  5. Place the top bun over the fillings.

Optionally, you can sprinkle some sesame seeds on the top bun for an authentic touch.
